2011 Fresh on Q begins Saturday May 21!

There is excitement in Texas Township as the 2011 Market season approaches! We'll be back with all your favorite muffins and a few new items. We are introducing a Gluten-Free Muffin Mix and a healthy, nutritious bar called The Smart Bar.
The GF Muffin Mix is an original blend of gluten free grains, sweeteners and leavening. The mix will make 12 muffins.
The Smart Bar is a burst of nutrition, with whole grains and no white sugar or processed oils. It is made with oats, flaxmeal, ground almonds, almond butter, maple syrup, pumpkin, agave, brown rice syrup, dried Michigan cherries, dried apricots, sunflower seeds, walnuts and organic chocolate sweetened with evaporated cane syrup. The Smart Bar also comes without chocolate.
Saturday we will also offer a Triple Chocolate, Sunshine, Lemon, Blueberry, Bran, Natural, Donut (buttermilk muffin with cinnamon sugar) and Gluten-free Apple and Blueberry. Hope to see you there!

It's been a blast!

For six Saturdays we've enjoyed being at the Market. We've introduced the banana chocolate chip, blueberry gluten-free and banana allergy free (no gluten, dairy or nuts).
We had a customer come by a few weeks back and gave us a recipe for a banana blueberry that looks wonderful, we will try it soon.
We are taking a few weeks off for family fun and will see all of you back at the Market July 17th.

2010 Market Day Opens!


We're off to a great start in our new building at Texas Township. There has been lots of excitement in the community. Come out and see us. We are offering our favorite muffins from last season such as the Sunshine, ChocAlot, Natural, Island Blueberry, Simply Lemon, Gluten-Free and Bran. Two new varieties have already become popular, try our Cinnamon Donut Muffin and Orange Cream. See you this Saturday 8 AM until 12 Noon.

Final 2009 Market!


Many braved the 40 degree temperatures and rainy conditions to support the great vendors in Texas Township.  The weather was cold but the atmosphere was warm with new and old friends. Today marked the end of a great season.  For our new business venture the past months have been filled with many adventures in baking, packaging, experimenting, learning business skills and feeling the support of many of our neighbors in Texas Township.  Thanks to all of you for supporting our company.  We look forward to May 22, 2010!!
We ended the season offering our Sunshine, Natural, Blueberry, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Apple, Cranberry Pumpkin, Gluten-free Apple Cinnamon and Praline Puff muffins.  We are excited to develop new recipes and would love suggestions! (hint, hint)
We may be back in January at the Fair grounds for their Wednesday morning markets, we'll keep you posted.

Summer winding down

It's hard to believe school is back in and the leaves are already starting to turn, where did the summer go?  We have had a fabulous time at the Market these past few months.  We especially enjoy talking with our customers, so many have become regulars and friends.  That is the special atmosphere in Texas Township!  We have introduced a gluten free muffin that has been very popular and a pumpkin chocolate chip to officially signal in harvest time.  Come on down to the Market on 8th and Q.  We will be selling our muffins and waiting with a smile to welcome you. Jared, this one's for you!

The biggest challenge we've had in developing our recipes has interestingly been the traditional blueberry.  We tried so many variations and just couldn't come up with one that, first of all worked and secondly, one we loved, until now.  Those of you familiar with our muffins know we have a fantastic Island Blueberry with lime and coconut.  But, we also wanted that traditional blueberry muffin.  Today, we offered "Jared's Blueberry", inspired by my son.  Jared loves blueberries, blueberry bagels, blueberry pancakes and of course blueberry muffins.  He gave us very good feedback during all the "trial runs".  The last bit of advice came after he stayed at a hotel in Boston.  Every morning he would have a blueberry muffins with a glaze.  So, in our last attempt to produce a fantastic blueberry muffin, we added a cinnamon crumb topping and a glaze.  Finally, we've hit upon a winner!  This muffin is filled with fresh Michigan blueberries, added by hand to keep the batter white.  Thanks Jared, we finally did it!

Our mission statement includes variety as a component along with our homemade goodness.  We want to offer something for everyone.  A month ago we introduced The Natural with no added sugar or fat and today we introduced our first "Gluten-Free" Muffin!  It is the Apple Cinnamon.  We had a wonderful response at the Farmers Market.  Here's a list of the ingredients: brown rice flour, white rice flour, tapioca flour, potato flour, flax seed meal, yogurt, apple, butter, sugar, eggs, xanthan gum, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt.  We will continue to offer these August 29th at the Texas Township Farmers Market at 8th St and Q Ave.  See you there!

It's a Natural


Many of you have asked for "no sugar added" muffins and today we introduced The Natural!  It is made with whole wheat flour, ground flaxseed and is naturally sweetened with grated apples, raisins and pecans.  It also has no added fat.  We will be back at the Texas Township Farmers Market on August 1st and at the Richland Farmers Market July 22nd.  Hope to see you there!
Here's a list of ingredients for our current muffins:

The Sunshine Muffin- whole wheat flour mix, shredded carrot, sugar, raisins, pineapple, coconut, applesauce, walnuts, eggs, canola oil, fresh apple, cinnamon, baking soda, pure vanilla extract, salt.

The Fruitful Bran Muffin- whole wheat flour mix, organic wheat bran, organic wheat germ, buttermilk, raisins, brown sugar, canola oil, whole dates, apricots, eggs, molasses, sunflower seeds, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, honey, pure maple syrup, butter extract, pure vanilla extract, salt.

The Island Blueberry Muffin- flour, sugar, blueberries, coconut, butter, cream, eggs, fresh lime zest, salt.

The Choc-A LOT Muffin- bittersweet chocolate, sour cream, self-rising flour, dark brown sugar, butter, cream cheese, semi-sweet chocolate, cocoa, eggs, pure vanilla extract.

The Simply Lemon Muffin- flour, sugar, cream cheese, milk, canola oil, egg, fresh lemon juice, fresh lemon zest, baking powder, salt.

Summer Strawberry Muffin – flour, strawberries, sugar, milk, eggs, sour cream, butter, baking powder, brown sugar, strawberry extract, cinnamon, salt.

The Natural Muffin- whole wheat flour, rolled oats, raisins, pecans, apples, ground flaxseed, milk, yogurt, apple juice concentrate, eggs, cinnamon, baking soda.
